Exploring the Complex Relationship between Math Anxiety & Learning

Presentation Intro: This session explores the complex relationship between math anxiety, learning disabilities, and student learning, highlighting how both teachers and students can be supported in creating more confident and inclusive mathematics learning environments. Drawing on current research and classroom experiences, participants will examine the emotional and cognitive barriers that contribute to math anxiety, discuss how learning disabilities can intersect with those challenges, and explore practical, evidence-based strategies to foster positive mathematical mindsets. The session will also offer tools and approaches to help teachers recognize signs of math anxiety, differentiate instruction, and build classroom practices that promote equity, confidence, and success for all learners.
